A resident of Brittany was sentenced for having killed and butchered a domestic pig, which she was left to be kept by a zooprotective organization as a pet.
Two-month pig named Babe was rescued from slaughter by local animal protection. Over the next two years, she stayed in an animal shelter. But the shelter moved and the pig decided to find new owners. The woman who lived next door to the shelter agreed to take the animal to her. Upon receiving the animal, she signed a contract in which she had no right to kill the pig for the sake of meat.
Also read:When the woman felt tired from caring for the animal, she turned to her ex-husband, who brought a butcher who killed the pig and treated her carcass. The police revealed about 110 kg of canned meat and pate in the possession of the woman. Law enforcement authorities have suggested that all this was prepared from Babe. The ex-husband of the guilty one explained that from the very beginning of this whole story, she had plans to kill the pig in order to get meat.
The court found the woman guilty of abuse of trust and complicity in the slaughter of the animal outside the slaughterhouse. Guilty received a conditional 3-month suspended sentence and a fine of 500 euros.
