Viticulture has always attracted gardeners. Few of the owners of cottages and land plots were able to resist the cultivation of such tasty and useful berries. There are quite a few grape varieties, among them there are both long-established and young ones.
One of these rather young ones that you can fall in love with when you first look at a bunch is the hybrid variety Victor.
The resulting variety is also often called the “Gift of Krainov”, in honor of its breeder Krainov, Viktor Nikolaevich.
What kind is it?
As already noted, "Victor" - is a hybrid variety, which is considered the dining room. They rank it as a pink grape variety, although the berry may even acquire a dark red tint as it ripens.
Valery Voevoda, Gordey and Gourmet also belong to the hybrid varieties.

The bunch of this variety reaches a weight of up to 1 kg, and with good agricultural technology and up to 2 kg, the density is medium friability. The bunch grows volumetric, conical;- The soft-pink oval-shaped berry with a pointed tip is up to 4 cm long (some winegrowers claim that it is even up to 6 cm) and is up to 3 cm wide. The weight of one berry varies between 10 and 20 g. .
- The skin is dense, however, practically not felt when eating. Surging the berries is missing. Color depends on the amount of sunlight falling on a bunch. The lighter the color, the more shade fell on the grapes. Since the berry has very few seeds (1-2), it can be considered an approximate "lady's finger";
Very mature (almost 2/3 of its length) vine has a commercial value.
- At a grade "Victor" there is a high growth rate of shoots. The vine is very powerful and has a reddish color;
- The flowers are bisexual, so pollination occurs quickly and there is no need for outside help.

Breeding history
This hybrid was obtained by crossing an amateur breeder from Novocherkassk Krainov Viktor Nikolaevich. The name of the author and served as the name of the variety. The basis was taken two grape varieties: Kishmish radiant and Mascot(Kesha).
Krainov was fond of wine growing since 1953, and began breeding in 1995. Using the advice of a specialist from a research institute regarding the choice of varieties, Krainov V.N. held a crossing to get new grape varieties.
The following were used in the experiment: "Talisman" + "Tomai", "Talisman" + "Autumn Black", "Talisman" + "Kishmish Radiant". "Victor" is one of the first creations of an amateur breeder.
Specifications
Large-fruited hybrid "Victor" has an early ripening. The crop ripens about one hundred days after flowering. Most often in early August, the first clusters are already ripe. In some latitudes, this happens even at the end of July.
The varieties with good sugar accumulation also include White Delight, Kishmish Jupiter and Rumba.
"Victor" has a good yield - up to 6 kg per bush.
Refers to frost-resistant varieties. There is information that is able to winter without shelter, even in the 20-degree frost of central Russia. However, the winegrowers advise nevertheless to cover the vine with agrofabric.
Super Extra, Pink Flamingo and Isabella also belong to frost-resistant varieties.
Very well tolerated transportation. Due to the good rooting rate, easily propagated. Saplings are unpretentious and easily adapt to new conditions during transplantation. The hybrid has a strong root system.
Diseases and pests
It is noteworthy that fungal diseases are almost not affected. It has a high degree of resistance to diseases, almost does not undergo attacks of pests. To protect, you need to consider that for planting should use clay soils, but the salt marsh and limestone will cause plant diseases.
"Victor" will give a wonderful harvest only when planting it in sunny areas, preferably without drafts. Be sure to use soil mulching and fertilizer, preferably organic.
Such common grape diseases as mildew, oidium and gray rot are not terrible for "Victor". However, experienced growers recommend chemical treatment for prophylaxis 2 times before flowering of bushes and 1 time after.
Lovers of grapes - wasps - do not cause great damage to the harvest of this hybrid because of its dense skin. It is enough to place the bottle traps with sweet compote.
Heritage of V.N. Kraynov
Unfortunately, one of the pioneers of amateur selection of grapes is no longer alive. But his creations remained to live - hybrid forms of grapes that are very popular among gardeners.
Viktor Nikolaevich left a great legacy behind him - these are more than 45 hybrid grape varieties.
The harvest of grape hybrids was first collected in 1998 and was named Nizina. Now this variety has become almost a legend.
And next year Nina, the Tuzlovsky giant, the First-Called, Blagovest, appeared.
In 2004, a hybrid appeared - Novocherkassk's Anniversary.
The most successful author considered the hybrid Transformation. He called his appearance a revolution in the cultivation of table grapes.
Among the white hybrid varieties, the author singled out Zarnitsa, considering that she has enormous opportunities for growing on an industrial scale. The author noted the size of the berry in the varieties Bogatyanovsky and Princess Olga. But the latter wanted to work on cracking.
Victor Nikolayevich considered his favorite a hybrid - Anyuta, which has a tender flesh and a nutmeg flavor.
But "Sympathy" surprised even its creator with its unusual crimson color and unique taste. This hybrid has the second name "Victor-2".
It was withdrawn after work on the "Victor" and is the result of continuing to work with the hybrid "Victor", which was discussed at the beginning of the article. These two hybrids are very similar to each other. Only "Victor 2" has a longer ripening period and is more resistant to diseases.
Among growers there is an expression: "Troika Krainova." Such an assessment deserve the three best varieties of national breeder. These are "Victor", "Transfiguration" and "Novocherkassk Anniversary".
